The Immune System

By Man Found Standing, Native American Practitioner

Sadly, most of us don’t realize how much of a major role our immune system plays in our optimal health.  For example, all diagnosed cancers are the result of the immune system that is unable to do its job or does not function properly.  It is not germs or bacteria that cause disease; yes they do play their role, but ultimately it really comes down to how well our immune system performs its function.  (Click here to read about General Health.) If we have a weakened or inefficient immune system, we will get sick.  If we have a modulated immune system, our body’s ability to maintain optimal health is dramatically increased.

Our immune system affects every other system in the body!  By improving your immune system, you will improve your digestion, lungs, skin, and every other system in your body.  Not only does the immune system support your entire body, it also destroys cells that are foreign as well as mutated cancer cells.  It is estimated that the immune system of a healthy person destroys 10,000 mutated cancer cells every day!  When this defense ceases or slows down, cancer will multiply and become a clinical case rather quickly.

Simply put, the immune system is built in layers:   the nonspecific layer that includes the skin and mucous membranes – (the first line of defense) that prevents pathogens or toxins from entering the body.  If the skin gets broken, that creates a pathway for invasion.

The second layer is called the specific defense which is activated when microorganisms get past the nonspecific defenses and invade the body.  For the immune system to work properly, the body must recognize that it has been invaded and the immune response is activated before any destruction happens to the body tissue cells.  In a sense, the body is at war with an alien invader.

There is a lot more to our immune system than just the white blood cells everyone knows about.  Major parts of the immune system are thymus, spleen, lymph, bone marrow, white blood cells, complement system, antibodies, and hormones.  For the optimal immune system, it takes all of these to work together to fight off disease, infection, and mutated cancer cells.

When the body is under attack, it begins producing white blood cells at an accelerated rate.  White blood cells act as filters for the blood.  Sometimes, however, something goes wrong in the production of antibodies, and instead of properly protecting the body against invaders, the immune system is weakened.

How does it get weakened?  Why does an immune system fail?  Why do we get cancer?  In today’s modern society, we are bombarded with chemicals and drugs in the food we eat and in the air we breathe.  Poor nutrition (vitamin and mineral deficiency), chronic emotional stress, and physical exhaustion in day-to-day activities all contribute to an immune system not working properly.  (Click here to read more about Free Radicals.)

Many of the factors that weaken an immune system can be changed to boost the immune system.  Again, you can make a difference!  Cancer can be prevented or cured with a proper lifestyle that consists of eating a healthy diet, getting plenty of rest, moderate exercise, drinking plenty of water and taking high quality supplements.  Sadly in our modern lifestyles our body does not get the necessary nutrients it needs. Shiaqga is the most powerful healing herb I have ever encountered for the immune system and it is from our traditional Native American medicine.  When ingested, the 3-beta-D-glucans which make up part of the cellular structure of the Shiaqga cause a pan-systemic modulation of the immune system.  In fact, it has been established that the number and viability of the cells that make up the immune system is increased by as much as 4000% within 20 hours after taking Shiaqga!

Instead of damaging the body’s immune system, our natural defense against cancer, with chemicals and radiation, the focus should be on what alternative natural cancer treatments are available.  Many people have experienced miracles through proven traditional alternative medicine.
