General Health

What is good health?

Good health is feeling fine without any aches and pains.  Or is it?  It has been accepted by the medical establishment, and most people, that declining health, disease, and lower energy levels are all part of the aging process.  That does not have to be true for you!  Good health is truly the prevention of disease.

Let me briefly share with you a story to illustrate.

There were two scientists, Antoine Bernard de Bechamp that studied the cause of disease and the microbes that make up the vast flora of living systems within the body and Louis Pasteur that believed that the microbe is the cause of all disease.
Like our modern medical establishment Louis Pasteur, believe that microbe (germs) cause a disease.  If you destroy (kill) the microbe, you will cure the disease.  This is called the Germ Theory.

Antoine Bernard de Bechamp believed in the Terrain Theory.  This theory states that disease is caused by dys-regulation of the body’s terrain.    The “state” of the whole organism dictates whether the body becomes ill, manifest symptoms, or remains well enough to fight off the disease.  In short, if you give your body what it needs to stay healthy, it will not get the disease in the first place or it quickly fights it off.

As the story goes, there were two brothers living in France.  One brother was a baker who provided baked goods for the high-class restaurants and lived in Paris.  The other brother lived on a farm outside of Paris and worked as a tenant farmer.  Both brothers had daughters around the same age.

Both daughters were playing at the home of the farmer when a rabid dog came up and bit both girls.  One became sick and died.  The other girl did not become sick at all.

The famous scientist, Louis Pasteur was called immediately to examine the body of the girl that died.  Pasteur was a veterinarian and was renowned for discovering the microbe that caused Hydrophobia (rabies).

After the examination of the girl that died, he declared that she died of acute hydrophobia caused by the bite of the infected contagious dog.  When he was asked why the other girl didn’t get sick, his response was that perhaps the mouth of the dog was cleansed by the first bite that when the second girl was bit, there were no more microbes left in the mouth of the dog.  (Modern  science has shown that a dog’s mouth is a filthy environment and a bite would not “cleanse” it of microbes.)

The other scientist, Bernard Bechamp, arrived at the farm at a later date.  Unable to examine the dog or the dead girl, he interviewed the parents.  He discovered the dead girl was the daughter of the baker that lived in Paris.  She was raised in the environment of the “high-life” with fine clothing and plenty to eat.  The farmer’s daughter had a much different lifestyle.  Could diet make the difference?

The Little Dead Girl
She lived in a big city.
Air was polluted outside because of the predominant use of coal.
Air was polluted inside because of the use of whale oil lamps.
Water was polluted because it came from the river that also doubled as the sewer system.
Her diet consisted largely of processed carbohydrates (white flour), meat and rich sauces.

The Little Live Girl
She lived in the country.
Air was clean and pure.
Water came from the well.  It was not polluted with sewage.
Her diet was high in garden produce and low in processed carbohydrates.
They were poor so they couldn’t afford much meat, rich sauces, etc.

Bechamp observed the difference between these two lifestyles and diets.  His conclusion was the farmer’s daughter internal terrain was in a healthy condition, she naturally prevented the rabies from making her sick, whereas the baker’s daughter’s internal terrain was in a damaged condition so she could not fight off the disease.

Unfortunately there is no evidence that this story is true, but over the generations it has been shared to illustrate the difference between the two theories:  Germ Theory versus the Terrain Theory.

When our bodies have the proper building blocks and our cells are communicating and functioning properly, we not only have the ability to ward off disease, but we have the ability to heal ourselves from life threatening conditions.  Scientists know we have the innate ability for curing all disease and living a long, healthy life.  Our bodies grew from a single cell into the being we are now, what is stopping us from being healthy?  How do we achieve optimal health?

What does optimal health really mean?

Optimal health means having the best health you personally can under your current living conditions.  For some people their optimal health will be lower than others just because of a few small differences in their lifestyles.  Let me share with you an example to further illustrate my point:

Hypothetically let’s say there are two identical twins boys and they both live, eat, breath, and think exactly the same way.  The only difference is one twin likes to carry a little bit of Uranium (toxic radio active material) around with him.  Over the years which twin do you expect will have better health?  Which one do you think will live longer?

Take control of your optimal health and wellbeing.  Why live to be 100 years old, if the last 20 years of your life have been spent in pain and misery?  You can take charge of your life and increase your optimal health.  Living a long, healthy, and active life is a choice.  Are you ready to make the lifestyle changes to increase your optimal health?

What can I do to achieve optimal health?

There are many paths to good health.  Find the path that works best for you.  Make the simple changes and then slowly grow into a healthy lifestyle that fits your desires.  Research has shown time and time again that when people make drastic lifestyle changes, almost all of them, within thirty days, will revert back to their old lifestyle habits.  Unless there is a dire need for immediate healing, grow into establishing a way of living rather than a quick fix.

A healthy body is built from healthy foods and a healthy environment.  By taking in clean air, clean water, proper nutrition, and having a healthy emotional attitude, we can expect to live a long healthy life.  Below are some simple suggestions:

Air

We can only live a few minutes without oxygen.  This should tell you that the air we breathe is an important part of optimal health.  Try to breath deeper throughout the day.  (Exercise is a great way to increase your oxygen intake.)  Consider the options for breathing cleaner air like purchasing a plant, air filter, or Therapeutic Oils.

Water

Water is vital for good health.  You will die after a few days without water.  Increase your water quality and quantity.  There are many good, low cost, water filters on the market, find one that works best for your budget.  Research has shown that drinking small amounts of water throughout the day is better for your health than drinking large amounts of water a few times a day.  (Try to avoid water that is bottled in plastic containers.  Plastic containers can be harmful to your health because of the potential for toxic chemicals to be released directly into your water supply.)

Mental Health

Because of our modern day living, we are continuously subject to stress.  How many times a day do you have stress from being cut off in traffic, running late for an appointment, worrying about paying the bills, worrying about family, worrying about your own health, and so forth?  These stresses have been proven to have detrimental effects on the immune system and your entire body.  Also the emotional and physical traumas from growing up and living day-to-day, not to mention someone being in an abusive situation, induce great levels of stress in your body for long periods of time.  Learn how to manage stress and negative emotions by meditating, think positively, using Therapeutic Oils, and taking time to “smell the roses”.

Proper Nutrition

Nutrition is where you get your building blocks for your body to achieve optimal health.  Eat better!  Sadly because of our modern living conditions, it is almost impossible to live a healthy lifestyle without high quality supplemental support.  Before we go any further, let’s look at what is considered as the optimal diet.

Chimpanzees genetically resemble humans more than any other animal.  Chimpanzee’s blood types are so close to humans, that science uses them for biomedical research for treatment and prevention of diseases.  Since these nonhuman primates are excellent models to study human biology and behavior, shouldn’t science also learn from the chimpanzee’s natural behaviors for our health?

The questions that come to mind are:  What is a human diet supposed to be?  Can we humans learn about dietary needs from a wild chimpanzee’s diet?  Since these animals possess a strong natural immunity from cancer, Hepatitis C, AIDS, and other fatal human illnesses, is it the diet that makes a difference?

The wild chimpanzee’s diet basically consists of mainly two major food groups:  fruits and greens.  The breakdown is roughly 50% fruit, 40% greens & blossoms (depending on the season), 5% seeds, pith, and bark, and 1% insects and other meat.  All the food that is consumed by the wild chimpanzee is raw (uncooked and unprocessed) and packed with minerals due to the natural fertilizers found in their habitat.  Their eating habits are to start to eat early in the morning and never eat in the evening.

The standard American diets breakdown is roughly 64 % of cooked carbohydrates (rice, potato, bread, and pasta), 25% protein and animal foods, 4% fruit, 4% vegetables, 2% oils, and 1% greens.  Most of the foods are overcooked and over-processed.  Many Americans skip breakfast and eat a late supper in the evening.  Could this be the cause of poor health, obesity and disease in Americans?

So the optimal diet for good health is probably closer related to the wild chimpanzee’s diet than our standard American diet.

Now you would think that if you committed yourself to a diet like the wild chimpanzee, you could get all of the nutrients a body needs.  Sadly, this is not the case.  If you obtain your food like most of us living in the modern world, you will find that even with the healthiest eating habits there is a lack of nutrition in the food you eat.  Few farms today practice proper crop rotation.  The soil is depleted of minerals to feed the crops.  The lack of minerals in the ground, result in a lack of nutrition in the food, even with the foods grown organically!

How many times have you salivated over a piece of fruit, only to be disappointed by the taste?  With our modern lifestyles, food growing is all about supply and demand to feed the world, not to heal the world.

Most all farms use chemicals and pesticides to enhance the growing process and to produce an abundance of good looking food, not healthy food!  Not to mention the food that is being harvested before it is ready, food that has had added chemical preservatives to extend shelf life, or food that has been genetically modified with potential harmful side effects.  In the Western World it is vital for optimal health to include proper nutritional supplementation.

Environmental Toxins

Also in the world that we live in, your body is under attack by the extreme exposure to environment toxins.  Toxins are in the air, the water, and the soil.  If you are like most people, the amount of your toxic exposure is growing everyday.  About 7500 synthetic chemicals/toxins have been introduced into the environment through industrial waste, pollution, and in the products we use.  They lodge in the cells, tissues, muscles and do damage to the inner workings of the body.

The human body is designed to defend, protect, nourish, repair and regulate to stay in balance, not to cope with high amounts of modern day toxins and pollution.  The body will try to detoxify itself, but with normal modern day life, it can not keep up and thus illness and disease occur.

The liver is the body’s main organ for detoxification.  A fully functional liver supports the immune system that defends and detoxifies.  The immune system goes into overload to defend itself from toxins.  Toxins cause cells to mutate and create free radicals that damage the immune cells and DNA.   Scientists have shown that radicals lead to disease.
